Explore the Northwind Shipwreck – North Channel, Lake Huron

Experience one of the most amazing wreck dives in the Great Lakes as you explore the Northwind, a 300′ long steamship that remains largely intact since it sank in 1926.

The Northwind Shipwreck is an exceptional site for intermediate to advanced divers and technical diving enthusiasts. This wreck has it all: impressive size, captivating depths, and plenty of points of interest, making it a must-see for anyone passionate about shipwreck exploration.

Wreck Details:

• Length: 300′

• Depth: 75′–140′

• Maximum depth: 140′ (for certified technical wreck penetration divers)

• Ideal for advanced divers; wreck penetration requires proper technical training and equipment

Diver Requirements:

• Minimum Advanced Open Water Certification

• Cold water experience required

• Wreck penetration is only for divers with appropriate training and gear

Trip Details:

• 2 days of diving with 2 dives per day (morning and afternoon departures from Gore Bay)

• 3 nights accommodation in shared lakeside cottages on Manitoulin Island (Thursday night to Sunday morning)

• Not included: gear rentals, gas fills, transportation

• The charter operator has a compressor on-site, air fills available for $20/tank
