Mario Medarevic is a Yugoslav born water fanatic that grew up in Malaysia. Like so many other young boys, Mario was obsessed with sharks as a child spending every spare moment between school and sleep meticulously studying his books on sharks and fantasizing about the day he would be able to interact with these majestic creatures.

Mario spent the better part of his childhood training as a competitive swimmer and managed to make it all the way to the national level here in Canada at the age of 19. It was his proficiency as a swimmer, and his obsession with sharks that finally lead him to pursue a career in diving after graduating from university. He began his diving career in Thailand where he accumulated thousands of dives over four years learning from seasoned instructors, and experts in marine biology. He later went on to live on the remote islands of northern Sumatra where the relatively unspoiled marine ecosystems offered the perfect opportunity to quench his thirst for underwater exploration and interaction with large marine predators. Mario has since dove around the world and accumulated firsthand experience with a variety of marine ecosystems, animals and people from all walks of life and in the process has gained a true appreciation for the extent of marine degradation and animal plight.

Mario is an extraordinary, very experienced diver and overall super nice guy! He has also worked more than a decade as a professional diving instructor (PADI IDC Staff 10+ Year,) freediving instructor (Constant Weight Depth: 175ft Static Breath Hold: 6:30 min,) and professional safety diver for productions and research programs around the world. He is also an instructor for 1st Aid/CPR/E02/AED as well as adviser, trainer, and designer of accident management systems for major corporations and Guinness World Record attempts.

Mario’s real passion is Sharks which is why if he is not in Toronto, you can trust he is somewhere diving with these majestic creatures.

Mario founded Dive World in his now home city of Toronto with the mission of bridging the gap between city dwellers and the marine ecosystems that desperately need their help.

Mareesha is the Dive World work horse. Year over year no one dives more, no one teaches more and no one is more enthusiastic about it than Meesh. If you are looking for a dive buddy Meeshy is always ready to blow bubbles. Known for her infectious energy Meeshy has a way of making every dive special. Michal is the second most active instructor on the Dive World roster. He often looks serious but those who know him will tell you he’s a sweetheart. Michal has an uncanny ability to absorb information quickly. His thirst for knowledge and adventure have served to rapidly expand his skill set and experience in a short period of time. Michal is known for being direct, precise but extremely kind. He is happy to teach all levels of diving but his real passion is advanced and technical diving.

Mackenzie aka Mack is the youngest member of the Dive World team. Among her peers she has a reputation of being resilient, passionate and ever prepared. Her students know her for her compassion, wittiness and polished professionalism. Mack is an uncommon talent in the diving industry and we are grateful to call her a member of our team. If you are lucky enough to have Mack sign your logbook, treasure that memento because this girl is going places!

Don’t let her smile fool you, Kenzi is a tough cookie. Known for her no nonsense approach to teaching she will hold you accountable every step of the way. Kenzi is one of Dive Worlds longest standing alumni and one of the most active divers on the team. A perfect balance of sassy and sweet Kenzi is a fun instructor know for producing high quality divers year after year.

Diego is a bit of a legend in the Dive World community. One of our longest tenured members, Diego is deeply entrenched in the minds, memories and stories of almost every diver that has come our way. Once you meet Diego you will no doubt agree that this man is one of the most memorable people you could hope to encounter on your scuba journey. He is also a phenomenally talented instructor that has a knack for removing your apprehension and turning it into unbridled enthusiasm for this incredible sport. If you are lucky enough to get Diego as your instructor you will likely walk away with a new friend for life. Diego embodies everything we stand for at Dive World; laughter, inclusion and a deep passion for blowing bubbles!

Miranda is one of the newest members of the Dive World team. She is best characterized as joyful and focused. Her spontaneity and ambition landed her a spot on the Dive World roster but her professionalism and competitive drive have earned the respect of her peers. As an instructor, Miranda is attentive, compassionate but unwavering. If Miranda gives you the nod of approval there can be no doubt you earned it!

David is the Dive World juggernaut. We like to say that David is at least an 8/10 at everything you can possibly think of. Know for his sharp wit and jolly demeanor, David has a way of making everyone feel comfortable. One of the best humans we have been lucky enough to meet and call part of the Dive World family.

James is the Dive World swiss army knife. With his military background, James has a propensity to be prepared for everything and be of service to everyone. Know for his calm demeanor and passive approach to teaching, James is well liked by all of his students. If you are lucky enough to get James as your instructor you can rest assure you are in for an easy going thorough course.

Raffi started his diving journey with Dive World back in 2017 and he has not looked back since.

Known for his quiet demeanor and even temperament, Raffi also holds the distinction of being a black belt in several martial arts.

 Raffi is, without question, the epitome of a professional. Always prepared, always upbeat and committed to the job of keeping every diver safe and making your scuba diving experience as relaxing as possible. 

Raffi has a tremendous amount of experience diving in southern Ontario. If you are fortunate enough to dive with him you can be sure that the experience is one you will remember fondly.

Andrew has been freediving since 2013, and became a certified Instructor in 2017.  He is a certified AIDA Instructor, AIDA Youth Instructor, EFR Instructor, O2 Provider, Competitive Freediver & Ice Freediver! He began freediving on the Great Lakes and was certified in the cold Canadian waters. Over the years, he has developed expertise on local Ontario dive sites and conditions which makes him ideally suiting to teaching in Canada. Andrew competes and coaches regularly in Canadian freediving competitions and is a national depth champion with multiple provincial records. Andrew enjoys the excitement of assisting freedivers in achieving their goals and learning new skills.

Lilly Ryzebol is a competitive freediver, 1x Canadian National Record Holder and the Ontario Representative for AIDA Canada. She is a certified Assistant Instructor through AIDA and EFR Instructor who loves ice diving.

​Andrew and Dive World helped Lilly overcome her fear of the water from a drowning incident as a child in Indonesia.

Lilly fell in love for the water after losing her mother to cancer. Diving has brought comfort and freedom to Lilly’s life as she was grieving her loss, and it has allowed her to enjoy the amazing creations found underwater.
