Who should take this course?

PADI courses are recognized around the world. PADI operates in 185 countries and territories and is by far the largest diver training agency in the world. PADI courses are ISO approved and recognized for academic credit by the Ontario Ministry of Education and for college and university credits by the American Council on Education. PADI courses have many other recognitions and approvals around the world.

To enroll for the PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course):

  • You must be 10 years old or older
  • You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health
  • No prior experience with scuba diving is required

What will you learn?

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

1. Knowledge Development (Theory Component)

Learn in a classroom or online to understand the basic principles of scuba diving.

2. Confined Water Training (Pool Training)

Practice the basic scuba skills and build your confidence.

3. Four Open Water Dives (Fresh Water Training)

Use your skills and explore!

Regardless of which option you take, you will have unlimited access to in-person instruction. You can always call us or come in to the shop and an experienced instructor will be happy to assist you.

PADI eLearning

$201 – PADI eLearning

Save time, save paper!

This course option is best for those who want the convenience and comfort of learning at their own pace in their own space. You have all of the advantages of in person instruction, with none of the drawbacks. All of Dive World and PADI’s resources are at your fingertips.

You will still have access to Dive World PADI Pros, all you have to do is call or come in.

PADI Tablet Electronic Crew Pack

$201 – PADI Tablet Electronic Crew Pack

All the ease and convenience of PADI elearning but portable as well! Have access to the PADI Open Water Diver Manual, videos and other content while offline. While you still need to be online to take and submit quizzes or Knowledge Reviews, you can access reading portions while traveling or during periods without an internet connection.

This is by far the most convenient way to do your knowledge development.

PADI Open Water Crew Pack

$128 – Open Water Crew Pack

If you prefer to learn solely using a manual and DVD with classroom instruction, instead of computer or tablet-based learning we offer that too!

Includes: PADI Open Water Manual, PADI Log Book, PADI’s guide to using a Dive Computer as well as your student record and referral folder.

Crew Pack can be picked up at Dive World during store hours or can be shipped directly to student for an additional shipping cost. Student is required to attend 8 hours of class time at Dive World to watch the necessary videos and complete quizzes and final exam.

2. Confined Water Training (Pool Training)

$250 – Confined Water Training

On average, a student will need 4 hours of pool time to complete the confined water training, however, not everyone has the same starting set of skills or the same predisposition to water. At Dive World, we don’t want you to feel pressured by time restrictions. This is why we offer all students up to 8 hours of in pool instruction to get through Confined Water Training, at no additional cost.

All of your necessary equipment is included.

Includes: 4-8 hours of pool instruction, Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Booties, Regulator, BCD, Tank, weights and weight belt as well as your referral paperwork should you require it to move an and complete your Open Water Certification Dives with another Dive Shop.

*Additional pool training available for $25 per 2 hour session

3. Four Open Water Dives (Fresh Water Training)

$280 – 4 Open Water Dives

Complete your 4 Open Water Certification dives and receive your dive license.
Includes: 4 Open Water Certification Dives & all scuba equipment rentals.

Save $100 if you purchase your own BCD/Regulator/Wetsuit package from Dive World.

Mask, Fins, Snorkel and Booties are not included for Open Water Dives but are available for rent for $50/person for the 4 dives. This $50 rental fee is redeemable as store credit towards the purchase of your own Mask/Fins/Snorkel/Booties package at Dive World should you choose to do so.
